I’m sharing with you my absolute favorite, go-to breakfast smoothie recipe for a QUICK balanced breakfast.  The balanced breakfast smoothie equation = protein + produce + healthy fat. I make this most days of the week when I don’t have time to make a big breakfast like I do on the weekends.  It only takes a few minutes to make! Plus, it tastes SO delicious. This smoothie will keep your energy boosted, and it will hold over your appetite until lunch. Win-win-win!

I have been making this smoothie so much that it has been named “The Katie Special”.  I try to eat about 2-4 servings of fruit per day, and this covers two servings of fruit, plus protein, and a healthy fat.  The cocoa powder provides a little caffeine and theobromine boost.  You can also add other nutritional powders you like!

In life, much like smoothies, you get out what you put in it.

The Katie Special Smoothie

  • 1/2 peeled frozen banana
  • 1 c frozen blueberries
  • 1 scoop Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Powder (Chocolate)
  • 1 c unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 date
  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 c water

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a cup and enjoy!

* Sometimes I also add collagen powder, because we aren’t getting any younger!
