Finish 2018 STRONG

As we head into the middle part of the last month of the year, it is easy to lose steam and give in to all the holiday treats and winter stresses, but let’s change gears and finish this month strong.

These days there is an app to help you with any health oriented goal you want to achieve.  Here are my top five favorite, science-based apps to help you become the best version of yourself, end the year strong, and start the new year on the right foot!

1 – Need help focusing?  – Focus@Will
Focus@will is a new music service based on human neuroscience. It helps you focus, reduce distractions, maintain your productivity and retain information when working, studying, writing, and reading. The scientifically tested technology behind focus@will has been shown to alter brain activity toward a state that is more conducive to productivity.

2 – Wish you could alleviate stress and anxiety? – InsightTimer
Anxiety is our body’s way of preparing for a ‘fight or flight’ response. It is usually triggered by perceived future events, many of which do not happen. A regular daily meditation practice can help anxiety sufferers to focus on staying in the present moment and seeing a situation for what it actually is.

3 – Longing for a better relationship with money? – The Secret to Money
This app helps you develop a wealth mindset by virtue of the “law of attraction” principles. The Secret to Money App is designed to change the way you think about money, and to radically change the circumstances of money in your life.  Featuring a personal development program of daily activities, there are 5 powerful practices that will help you develop a wealth mindset.

4 – Want an extra nudge in meeting your weight loss goals? – Poundaweek
This app was originally made solely for android phones, however it looks like they are finally creating it for Apple’s iOS, because they have a new announcement on their website that it is coming soon!  The cool thing about this food tracking app is you can take a picture of your food, and it will do most of the calculating/cataloging for you.  It continually analyzes your food choices, exercises, and weight to provide always up-to-date nutrition targets.  With weekly targets rather than daily restrictions, Poundaweek doesn’t let a bad day stop you from reaching your goal.

5 – Want to be a more environmental shopper? – EWG Healthy Living
This app was created by the Environmental Working Group, and it allows you to scan a food or beauty product, review its rating, and pick the better choice. Ratings for more than 120,000 food and personal care products, now at your finger tips.
